Last night, as the votes were rolling in for Alabama's special election, I went to see The Boss on Broadway. I know about three Bruce Springsteen songs, but for those two hours I was a total super fan. It's a simple show: All monologues and melodies. But his personal journey was a compelling reminder that it's possible to be both patriotic and compassionate. He called the current political climate "a bad chapter in the ongoing battle for the soul of our nation." After the show, we went backstage with the good news that the bad guy lost in Alabama, and bathed in the small bright light of what has been a darkened year. (PS.
